Biography

Gong Jianya is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and currently serves as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Remote Sensing and Information Engineering, Wuhan University. He has held prominent roles including recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, lead scientist of the 973 Program, and Chair of Commission VI of the ISPRS. He is currently Secretary-General of the Asia Association for Geographic Information Systems and President of the Overseas Chinese Association for Geographic Information Science.

Academically, he proposed the object-oriented GIS model in the 1990s, which became a mainstream technology, and later developed theories and platforms for spatial information sharing, including GeoSurf and GeoGlobe—key foundations for China's public geographic information services. In photogrammetry and remote sensing, he introduced a generalized geometric imaging model and high-precision processing methods, greatly enhancing the autonomy and accuracy of China's remote sensing satellites. He led the design of China's first civilian stereo mapping satellite, ZY-3, and its ground processing system, achieving international advanced levels and earning him the first prize of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

He has led over 40 national and provincial research projects and received numerous awards, including one first prize and four second prizes of the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, as well as the ISPRS Dolezal Achievement Award. He has authored 13 books and over 500 papers, cited more than 20,000 times, and has supervised more than 190 graduate students, with two doctoral advisees winning the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award.

Keynote Speech: Intelligent Network Management for 6G

The 6G networks are expected to support a wide range of diverse use cases and applications, along with a significant increase in user data traffic. Artificial intelligence (AI) will be deeply embedded in the design and operation of the networks. Specifically, 6G will transition from an information-centric architecture, which connects people and devices, to intelligence-driven architectures that facilitate seamless data sharing, processing, and mining across devices, the edge, and the cloud within the network. This presentation will examine various aspects of integrating AI into network architecture and operations for intelligent network management and service provisioning. We will introduce a holistic network virtualization architecture designed to support AI functionalities and deliver customized services. Additionally, we will explore meta-learning to address non-stationary system dynamics in network management, with cooperative perception among nearby connected and autonomous vehicles as an application example. We will conclude by discussing the challenges and opportunities associated with network management automation, harnessing the advancements in AI technology.

Biography

Weihua Zhuang is a University Professor and a University Research Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Waterloo, Canada. Her research focuses on network architecture, algorithms and protocols, and service provisioning in future communication systems. She was the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology from 2007 to 2013, General Co-Chair of 2021 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC), Technical Program Chair/Co-Chair of 2017/2016 IEEE VTC Fall, and Technical Program Symposia Chair of 2011 IEEE Globecom. She served as the President of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society in 2023-2024. Dr. Zhuang is a Fellow of the IEEE, Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, and Engineering Institute of Canada.

Keynote Speech: Automated Network Intelligence: Driving the Future of 5G and Beyond

The evolution of 5G and Beyond networks faces stringent requirements to accommodate diverse applications and increased user traffic. Consequently, network management has rapidly shifted towards artificial intelligence (AI) frameworks and deeply integrated AI-enabled solutions for automated network analytics and proactive maintenance. This transition to future 6G network architecture will redefine the current service-based architecture into a data-driven framework, enabling comprehensive network intelligence across user devices, the edge, and the cloud.
The talk will explore the integration of AI into network operations and management, highlighting the critical importance of automated intelligence for enhancing efficiency and responsiveness in 5G and Beyond networks. The talk will introduce a practical, end-to-end testbed as a comprehensive network-virtualization architecture that supports AI functionalities and generates authentic 5G experimental data. A particular focus will be on 5G core network data analytics through the implementation of the 5G Core Network Data Analytics Function (NWDAF), which applies real-time analytics and machine learning to improve network performance and resource optimization. Furthermore, the talk will demonstrate and discuss scalable frameworks for core network functions and the application of machine learning to monitor and assess performance across network slices to orchestrate changes in a dynamic network. The talk will also address emerging research directions and future trends expected to shape the evolution of 6G networks and beyond.

Biography

Abdallah Shami is currently a Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University, London, ON, Canada, where he is also the Director of the Optimized Computing and Communications Laboratory. Dr. Shami's research interests are in the areas of smart systems, network and service management, and applied machine learning. He was the elected Chair for the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Communications Software and the IEEE London Ontario Section Chair.

He is currently an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (for which he will serve as Editor-in-Chief effective January 1, 2026), and IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. Dr. Shami is also the Chair of the IEEE Region 7 Publications and Communications Committee.

Dr. Shami is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), and a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC).

Biography

Ke Xu is a Full Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University. He has published more than 200 technical articles and holds more than ten U.S. patents in the research areas of next generation internet, blockchain systems, the Internet of Things, and network security. He is a Fellow of IEEE. He has won the IWQoS 2024 Best Paper Award, the Distinguished Paper Award from USENIX Security 2023 and 2024 and the Distinguished Paper Award from NDSS 2025.
